Silverado, located in the south-west region of Calgary on the south side of Highway 22X, is a residential neighborhood which is located at the southern edge of the city, east of the Spruce Meadows sports facility and south of the Spruce Trail. Also to Its eastern boundary is the Sheriff King Street.
Before the development of Silverado, the owners of Spruce Meadows proposed the development of the wetlands between the show-jumping facility and the residential area. The wetlands proposal was approved in 2004 by the City Council of Calgary, and the construction of residential buildings began in 2005 in the community.
As of 2012, there were about 5,136 people in a total of 1,898 dwelling and the square area recorded of Silverado is approximately 2.0 square miles.
